How do you raise awareness and improve care in a region where access to dermatology is extremely limited? This short film follows a World Skin Health Day campaign in Sumbawa, Indonesia, an island of around 1.5 million people, where there is only one dermatologist who arrived last year. Patients have long struggled to access specialist care, making early detection and treatment of skin conditions a major challenge. Led by local health workers and supported by global partners, the campaign focused on strengthening services through training for frontline healthcare providers, community outreach, and the launch of a teledermatology platform to support long-term skin health care. From building capacity in primary care to addressing neglected tropical diseases such as leprosy, the film highlights how awareness, education and collaboration can improve early diagnosis, reduce stigma, and create meaningful, lasting change - even in remote settings. This video was created as part of the ILDS in Motion: A Visual Journey of Global Skin Health film project. The project aims to capture, celebrate and showcase the exceptional achievements of ILDS members, projects and programmes through professional documentary-style video and photography. This event was organised in collaboration with Sumbawa District Health Office, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Indonesian Doctor Association, Perdoski, and Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Indonesia. And was supported through funding from World Skin Health Day, thanks to the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS), International Society of Dermatology (ISD) and CeraVe Care for All.
